Football Season Is Beginning

Tomorrow night, football season begins! John is working the chains this year for Etown and we are members of the Quarterback Club - so we'll be at the Central Hardin field ready to go! I'm anxious to see how this season will be with Gehrig able to run around! Could be interesting.

Sunday begins college football season. The Galvin's are a house divided! John has got Gehrig saying "Go Cats" which is driving me crazy! I'll have Gehrig alone most of the weekend so I'm going to work on changing that! I'm praying so hard that my alma mater -WKU will beat UK on September 27!

We love football -- probably best of all and are all geared up and excited!

Gehrig's Birthday Week

Gehrig's birthday was Monday, August 18. We decided to celebrate the week with different events. On Monday, Gehrig shared cupcakes with his friends Aidan, Teyton, and Karissa at Missy's, the babysitter. On Tuesday, we took Gehrig to his favorite restaurant, Los Napoles. We asked the waiters to sing. They gave Gehrig a sombrero to wear. Gehrig was quite embarrassed. John and I got tickled as they tried to sing Happy Birthday in English instead of Spanish! It was just like the Christmas dinner scene in Christmas Story! On Friday, we had a BIG party at Freeman Lake with family and friends. The theme was Cars - from the Disney movie. All the children enjoyed playing in the sand, especially Gehrig and cousin, Reese were dirty beyond belief! It was wonderful week and hard for mommy to believe her baby is two!

Pile Reunion

Our final reunion for the weekend was on Sunday. This was the Pile reunion - my dad's family. John is giving Bradley some fatherly advice. Bradley and Leslie are expecting a boy in September. Gehrig and Elizabeth were so exhausted from the day before that they didn't want to play together today - it was funny how cranky they both were! Gehrig almost lost his college education when he decided to take a rock to Gramps street rod! Luckily, no damage was done. Needless to say, I doubt Gehrig will play with rocks for awhile after Gramps fussed at him. We enjoyed visiting with the family and had a great weather day!

Roberson Reunion

We left the Alexander's and ventured on to the Roberson reunion - my dad's family. Gehrig and Elizabeth are enjoying a green apple in the picture above. Gehrig also got to fish, take a ride on the four-wheeler and gator and got to play on the trampoline. He was exhausted when we left! John enjoyed fishing and shooting clay pigeons. Again it was an enjoyable day!

Alexander Reunion

We attended three family reunions this past weekend! The first one was the Alexander's - my mother's family. This reunion was for all Alexander descendants in Breckinridge County - so there were a lot of people there. It was nice to see some family members that I had not seen in a long time - like Kara Alexander - who was a year younger than me and now lives in Florence, Ky. Gehrig enjoyed chasing Jay around and jumping on an old mattress with Meg and Katie. David took the kids on a hayride - Gehrig enjoyed seeing the cows and pond. It was a beautiful day.

Mommy, Gehrig and Bekah's trip to Northern Kentucky

Gehrig, Bekah and I travelled to Covington this week for an overnight adventure. Gehrig enjoyed swimming in the indoor pool at the hotel. Boy - the water was cold! The next day we went to the Newport Aquarium. Gehrig really enjoyed seeing the fish, but I think the frog exhibit was his favorite. We later enjoyed some shopping in Louisville. What a wonderful trip!

Grandmother's Surprise Birthday Party

On Monday, August 4, the Galvin family held a surprise birthday party for Grandmother's 80th birthday. Her actual birthday is August 10, but Uncle Ron and his family were in from Missouri visiting. Grandmother was very, very suprised and quite pleased. Gehrig enjoyed playing football with Cousin Mitchell and riding the golf cart with Uncle Ron and Cousins, Alexa and Bailey.
