UL vs UK

This year, John and I went to my cousin, Tracey and her husband, Rusty's home at Rough River Lake to watch the UL vs UK game. Before accepting the invite, I had to ask Tracey if any UofL fans would be there as Tracey and Rusty are die hard UK fans. She assured there would be and sure enough slowly but surely they came. We watched the game from their tiki hut! The weather was beautiful and the game was so exciting! Hated it that UofL lost - but we enjoyed our visit.

Gehrig visited with my mom and dad for the game. He enjoyed playing ball with Gramps and Gran most of the time. I must say Gehrig looks handsome sporting his UofL uniform!

Heartland Festival Parade

At the last minute, we decided to get dressed and watch the parade. I took my new camera as I'm still trying to learn how to use it. Gehrig enjoyed watching the parade with Olivia and Reese. He got so excited over the Kosair cars, the train and the Disney characters. It was wonderful to see how excited he got.

Gehrig's 3rd Birthday

This year we had a smaller party with immediate family and Gehrig's friends at KY Railway Museum. The party included a train ride and free admission to the museum and model train center. The car we were given was air-conditioned with cushioned seats. The staff had it all decorated. It was better than I had even anticipated. Gehrig and all the attendees appeared to really enjoy the day.

Our Beach Vacation

Gehrig, my friend, Bonnie and I went to Murrells Inlet, SC for a vacation and to visit my cousins, Scott and Tyler Howell. This was our first trip to South Carolina and it was beautiful! Gehrig really enjoyed playing at the beach. He loved making roads and castles in the sand and enjoyed jumping the ocean waves. We visited some historical sites in the area. Most of all I had a nice visit with Scott and Tyler.

Gehrig and John were in Cousin Mark Galvin's wedding on Saturday, July 18. My boys were so handsome. It was a beautiful wedding! And we had a wonderful time at the reception at the Brown Hotel.

Reese - Gehrig Play Time

Cousin Time

Friday night, July 10, Cousins Reese and Ramsey came to our house to play. It was so cute to watch Gehrig and Reese "pretending" to be a family who goes to school with their baby (one of my old baby dolls). Then, Reese pretended to be a cheerleader while Gehrig played baseball! Reese took some good camera shots, which I will post on here. Ramsey is such happy, laid back baby - she just enjoys watching the action. We hope to have cousin time again soon!

Holiday World

Gehrig and I went to Holiday World with my friend, Susan and her son, Jaxson. The boys played so well together for two long days! We rode some rides and played in the splash park. We were blessed with two beautiful days!

4th of July

We celebrated 4th of July at Aunt Patty's and Uncle Mike's house. The kids had to have a picnic indoors this year due to the rain, but they didn't mind a bit. It was nice to visit with family and we had a most enjoyable day.

Fathers Day Outing

Fathers Day was a special day for all of us. Gehrig and I joined the College Heights Methodist Church that morning. We are very blessed to have found our Christian family. Then, John Sr., John, Gehrig and I went to Slugger Museum, the Olde Spaghetti Factory and to a Louisville Bats game. It was HOT at the game! Gehrig was really good and we all enjoyed it a lot.

Reese Birthday Party

Saturday, April 26, we celebrated Reese 3rd birthday at Freeman Lake. The theme was Dora and there were lots of little girls. Gehrig was a little shy being around all those girls, but Mason got him into the groove. He enjoyed playing with Mason a lot. The weather was beautiful and it was nice to visit with the family.

Easter

On Saturday, we kept telling Gehrig the Easter bunny would come to see him. He kept telling us "no" Easter bunny! When Sunday morning came, we told him the Easter bunny had come and left him a special basket. He didn't really understand but was excited to receive the movie "Incredibles"!

This year, our family went to my family church, Harned United Methodist and then had spent the afternoon with my parents. I am in the process of transferring my membership to Elizabethtown, so I did the scripture reading this Sunday as my private good-bye to the church I have been a member of for 43 years! This is a big step for me and a very emotional one, too.

Gehrig is really growing up and developing his own style. He has decided that he doesn't like the "cute" clothes that mommy does. It was battle, but he finally settled in to wearing the outfit I had bought for him to wear for Easter.

Gehrig enjoyed seeing his cousins, Joey, Jill and Adam and especially liked watching a baseball movie with Gramps. He was a little nervous about seeing him as Gehrig didn't like seeing Gramps in the hospital last week. Once he realized that Gramps is okay now, he was just fine. We had an enjoyable Easter visit!

Easter Egg Hunt

On Saturday, April 11, I took Gehrig to his first egg hunt at our church, College Heights Methodist. It was a smaller hunt and a good one to break him in. Gehrig was very tentative and didn't quite know what to do. I had to coax him, but he did all the hunting by himself. In the end, he got 18 eggs and won a prize for the least amount of eggs collected for his age group! He was very excited about winning a prize!

Coloring Easter Eggs

On Good Friday, Gehrig colored Easter eggs with Olivia, Ethan and Jack at Gigi's house. The kids had a big time coloring the eggs, eating pizza and playing together. Gehrig is wearing his bunny hat he made at school on Thursday. He wore it everyday until it finally fell apart!

Spring is Here!

Last Sunday, March 22, Gehrig and I played outside for hours! We went to Funtopia and later played baseball, rode bikes -you name it. We are so happy to see the sun and warm weather! YEAH! Spring is finally here!

Tournament Times

The Galvin household has been glued to the tube watching all the tournament games - Sun Belt, Big East and now NCAA. We were so excited to see WKU and UofL go to the big dance! Gehrig in this picture is cheering on the Toppers during their win over Illinois. We were all so heartbroken and still are over the loss to Gonzaga! What can I say about the Ville! Man - they are looking good and I hope it continues!

Girls State Tournament

We traveled to Bowling Green to cheer on the Lady Panthers in their bid for the State Championship. It was one of the best tournament games I have ever watched. The Lady Panthers played very well and have nothing to be ashamed of. Iroquois also played well and was well coached. Gehrig wanted to walk and walk -- it reminded me of when I went to Western and used to walk in the evenings at Diddle after exercise class! We were very proud of our Lady Panthers!

Valentine's Day

John and I joined some friends (Trelawney and Curtis Cochran and Mike and Marcia Tipton) for a Valentine's dinner at Franklin Crossroads Baptist Church. The youth had a special dinner to raise money for their program. We had a nice time visiting with friends and had a great meal to boot!

Super Bowl

John left us the day after the ice storm hit and went to Las Vegas for Mark Galvin's bachelor party. Those Galvin women left to fend for ourselves decided to get together to eat and watch the Super Bowl. Poor Gehrig was the only boy, but he got lots of flirting attention!

The Ice Storm

The ice storm hit and the tree limbs came a falling down. That one evening was so scary to lay in bed and listen to the crackling of the branches and the ongoing crashes! We were very fortunate as we did not lose power and we did not have any damage to our home! These are a few images from our neighborhood.

Catching Up

We have been busy! I've been facebooking and planning my class reunion!

Last year - we entered Gehrig in Regis and Kelly's baby contest. I wasn't going to do it this year, but decided to go for it! I know it's a crazy thing, but who knows if he's lucky he can win money for college which would be a wonderful thing! This is the picture we submitted for this year. Being two, he doesn't want to cooperate much and it has to be a snapshot and not professional.

Funny Thing Has Happened

I've been searching on blogger the whole time looking for old college friends, soriority sisters etc and the only blog friend, I have is the Nickell Family. Well yesterday, I got invited to be a "friend" on Facebook by one of my soriority sisters. I had never been on Facebook and had no clue what Facebook was, but decided to get on it. Within an hour, I had 10 friends on my profile and today, I probably had 25 emails from other sorority sisters and friends at WKU! It's really exciting to be able to reconnect with these friends! I will keep my blog up to date as I'm sure one of them probably does this, too. I guess Facebook is the form of choice for 40 something's. HA!

Louisville Wins!

Hurray! UofL wins in a scary, scary ending - but it's a W. Two thirds of the Galvin household are happy tonight! Gehrig was sporting his new U of L uniform which he looked so handsome in. We went to lunch at Beef O'Brady's and took a picture beside the Wall of Fame where Gehrig's picture is hanging. The owner took a picture of Gehrig last year when we watched UL vs UK there. We watched the game with the Thomas'. Gehrig had a big time playing with Jaxson and Logan.
